Patent Specialist – IP Patents
Location: Atlanta, GA | Charlotte, NC
An AmLaw 50 international law firm’s Intellectual Property – Patents Group is looking for a Patent Specialist with a background in computer science or electrical engineering. The position is available in our Atlanta or Charlotte offices, and remote candidates may be considered for part-time opportunities on a case-by-case basis.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is preferred.
 - Experience or interest in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wireless communications, sensors, semiconductors, Internet of Things, Ior related fields.
 - Strong technical and writing skills.
 - Motivated individuals who are looking for a career path to becoming a licensed patent agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys, patent agents and inventors in preparing and prosecuting patent applications focused on emerging technologies.
 - Train to identify inventions through technical discussions with inventors.
 - Draft comprehensive patent applications.
 - Prepare reports and support documentation for managing patent portfolios.
