Sr. Technical Designer – Women’s Sportswear

 

An established Wholesale Manufacturer in NYC is looking to fill a Sr. Technical Design position working with primarily Women’s Cut & Sew Knit and Wovens Sportswear. This person must have very strong technical garment construction knowledge and should have some experience working with discount stores like TJ Maxx, Burlington, etc. 

 

Requirements

• Has worked with Women’s Cut & Sew Knits and Woven Sportswear or related categories
• Experience managing 1-2 direct reports
• Excellent time management skills, possessing a sense of urgency with completing tasks in a timely manner
• Exceptional follow-up abilities and follow-through results with all correspondents
• Analytical and strong organizational skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to details
• Expertise in fit and function, garment construction, and is able to create grade rules
• Patternmaking knowledge with the capability to make pattern corrections
• Understands fabrics and their characteristic contribution to fit and function
• Proficiency in Excel
• Illustrator know-how a plus
• Works well with cross-functional teams
• Costco experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct fittings
• Daily communication with overseas factories to reach satisfying fits and maintain the T&A of the production process
• Become well acquainted with each account and their compliance requirements
• Follow-up on sample requirements as needed for each individual account
• Meticulously review and prep samples for Customer approval
• Analyze and compare competitive brands to create specific fits
