We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Project Engineer to guide a team of designers in Houston, TX. You will serve a key function in providing oversight and approving designs internally to assist Project Managers in the execution and delivery of complex Land/Site Development projects. This role is pivotal to fuel our growth in the Texas market.
What you will do:
- Overseeing and managing various aspects of a project to ensure its successful completion within time and budget constraints.
- Assist in the design and generate drawings for a variety of projects using AutoCAD and other products (e.g., grading plans, volume calculations, and engineering details)
- Schedule Project Meetings
- Attend Project Meetings, take project notes, prepare formal meeting summaries
- Preparing Project Schedules
- Filing project documents
- Manage task and deliverables list
- Maintaining staff schedules
- One on one and/or group mentoring and training
- Educational brown bags
- Educational and/or project site visits
- Host team-building events to promote production staff collaboration and cross-training.
- Peer and/or QA/QC reviews
- Managing workloads among the production pool
- Regular communication between PM’s and the production pool
- Assist in the maintenance of CAD standards, policies, and procedures meetings with clients and/or agencies as needed, etc
- Watching budgets and deadlines, ensuring the production staff are maintaining these expectations
- Holding design/milestone meetings to review production staff’s design and plans
- Tracking production staff growth and ensuring well-rounded exposure, especially for EITs planning to become PMs
- Assess staffing needs and working with recruiters through the interview process
Your Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience with a strong focus on design with related site/civil land development engineering with an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary projects
- Possess valid Texas (TX) Professional Engineer license
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proper Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations
- Able to identify design flaws and question specifications based on design knowledge and background
- Knowledgeable in complex grading, drainage, and utility design
- Demonstrated ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
- A collaborative team builder with excellent interpersonal and social skills
