The Regional Sales Manager will play the lead role in developing  sales efforts for the designated territory.   The Regional Sales Manager will provide the leadership and direction for the territory including the servicing of existing customers and developing new customers.  The Regional Sales Manager will work closely with headquarters, engineering, customer service, product development, and manufacturing teams to meet a wide range of customer needs including both off-the-self products and customized solutions.  The primary purpose for this role is to be both the primary company representative in the territory but also to be the voice of the customer to the organization.  The Regional Sales Manager will also be responsible for fostering strategic relationships with potential customers and partners from opportunity lead to final contract. The Regional Sales Manager will have relevant industry knowledge, experience, and a proven ability to creatively and confidently convey the added value of products and services to prospective customers.  The position reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing

 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

·        Proactively develop and maintain valuable relationships with target customers (OEM, distributors, agents, end users) to grow business within assigned territory

·        Work closely with the VP of Sales and Marketing to develop and implement strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve regional/territory objectives

·        Lead sales calls to convince prospective customers to specify and purchase products and services

·        Work with assigned Inside Sales Representatives in a team-based approach to selling to manage territory to research and, compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from advertising inquiries, trade show, sales calls, etc.

·        Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships with decision makers at key account and other valuable territory and regional customers, at plant floor level to corporate decision makers

·        Negotiate and close deals within specified guidelines including meeting sales and margin targets

·        Assist with responses to requests for quotes and proposals and create effective, compelling value-based sales presentations and opportunities to buy

·        Develop and establish competitive pricing in collaboration with other senior stakeholders

·        Apply understanding of the regional marketplace insights and to provide compelling solutions based on the company’s business strengths

·        Represent company at trade shows/industry conferences to promote products and services

·        Prepare periodic sales pipeline reports showing sales volume and potential sales·        Review and analyze sales performances against programs, quotes, and plans to determine effectiveness

·        Take ownership of up-to-date CRM database with contacts including current and prospective customers, opportunities, and status, key account mapping, and other insights

·        Provide management with weekly updates and a formal monthly sales report on activities

 

Requirements, Knowledge and Core Competencies:

·        Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and/or – 5-10 plus years sales experience in a related field preferred

·        Strategic sales and sales management experience with either technical products or consumable products or performance specifications solutions

·        Experience in multi-tier selling to food packaging & processing, plastics, converting and/or industrial consumables/spare parts industries

·        Consultative sales skills with the ability to communicate the company’s value proposition clearly and accurately

·        Ability to understand and apply market intelligence to sales strategy

·        Solid mechanical aptitude complemented with a strong business acumen·        Demonstrated business development and relationship management skills with ability to identify and understand customer needs and effectively communicate proposition, negotiate, provide solutions, and close sales

·        Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish required work

·        Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive presentation skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management

·        Ability to navigate at an advanced level in a Windows® environment including above average proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

·        Familiarity with primary functionality of CRM software and how to use it to manage customers and opportunities

 

Working Environment:


Typical office indoor/outdoor working environment necessary to perform all essential job functions with reasonable accommodations compliant with EEOC enforced ADA guidelines. This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.   Position includes significant travel to prospective and current customer sites and local and out of state offices of the company and its customers or prospective customers as necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.  Must be able to communicate clearly and relate well to others.  Must be able to lift, up to 50 lbs., stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform the essential functions of the position.
