We are seeking a Refinery Process Engineer with experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving refinery process unit operations. In this role, you will focus on increasing the efficiency and safety of chemical separations while helping to reduce total cost of operations within the refinery. Hands on support for automation and process control projects will also be provided to Operations, Maintenance, and EHS teams to meet or exceed the company’s safety, environmental, and economic objectives. Our client is a thriving specialty refinery and third-party private label blender located in the beautiful heartland of Northwestern Pennsylvania producing base oils, solvents, fuels, waxes, resins, and blended lubricants for a diversified set of industrial applications.

 

Qualifications for this role include:

  • S. in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related degree.
  • 5+ years of refinery process engineering experience.
  • Successful experience performing daily troubleshooting and process optimization for key refinery unit operations such as solvent extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, isomerization, atmospheric distillation, MEK dewaxing, hydrotreating, residuum oil supercritical extraction (ROSE), base oil production, etc.
  • Proven track record of gathering and analyzing unit operations data to make proactive recommendations for improving unit yields, operational efficiencies, and overall profitability.
  • Skilled in evaluating, solving, and eliminating process bottlenecks.
  • Experience providing process engineering designs to support capital projects and upgrades.
  • Participation in Process Hazards Analysis Studies and Management of Change processes.
  • Complies with all plant safety standards such as OSHA 1910.
  • Collaborative work style with the ability to both lead and follow.
  • Proficient in using process simulation software, project management systems, and Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license.
