R&D Automation and Equipment Development Engineer

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop software solutions to integrate production equipment into companywide Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), MUST have proven software programming skills. MES or PAC experience is a plus
• Develop machine vision algorithms and programs for semiconductor wafer inspection processes, proven machine vision knowledge is desired
• Develop automated equipment for semiconductor laser testing and assembly, experience with industrial robot, PLC, or high precision motion control is desired, semiconductor industry experience is a plus
• Support routine production activity as needed, hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis of production equipment issues are required
• Identify potential improvements in existing equipment for cost-reduction and yield increase
• Work closely with production engineering team and R&D engineers in multidisciplinary projects of automation equipment development and design reviews, need to be able to understand mechanical or electrical design drawings, schematics and hardware-in-the-loop programs
• Ability to work independently in own projects and collaborate with team members or colleagues from other teams in projects
• Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; willing to take responsibilities and ownership in automation projects

Qualifications

• This position requires 2+ years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline, advanced degree or previous semi-conductor industrial experience is a plus
• Proficient programming skills in at least one of the following languages are required, C#, C++, Python, Labview, Matlab, Java, etc.
• Previous experience in automation system integration, MES equipment integration, PAC, or machine vision is preferred
• Able to perform hands-on tasks like instrumentation, hardware test and assembly, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• This is an On-site position.
