Our client is a 4th generation family-owned food and beverage manufacturer. They are a national leader in coffee beans, and they have sugar and distillery businesses as well with plant operations across the country and internationally.
They have an immediate need for a Quality Assurance Manager to evaluate production operations in new facility in Paris, Texas.
As The Quality Assurance Manager will develop, implement, and periodically evaluate a program to ensure the organizations production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization. Aspects of the role include the following:
- Evaluates production operations from a strategic level to ensure that the products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
- Collaborates with management and senior staff across production departments and roles to draft adequate quality standards.
- Develops and implements quality standard testing and evaluation processes.
- Maintain and lead the Food Safety Plan.
- Performs internal audits and manages all the external audits related to food safety and quality.
- Responsible for maintaining the GFSI certification (SQF). Acts as the SQF practitioner for the plant.
- Maintains the Organic and Kosher certification for the operations and ensures compliance with USDA’s organic regulations.
- Coordinates and manages sensory and lab analysis of the products.
- Manages the positive release processes, including assessment of test results.
- Responsible for all quality validation and verification activities. Reviews quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance, and to ensure all the documentation is compliant with all food safety regulations.
- Conducts random inspections and quality control checks and leads the quality assurance department to guarantee quality assurance of all the products shipped from our plant.
- Maintains KPIs for the quality department, and periodically reports status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for developing and performing quality training for the team.
- Responsible for managing the budget of the Quality Assurance department, and for cost reduction initiatives from the quality perspective.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
This is a growth opportunity and a role where you will have influence. You must have a thorough understanding of quality control standards and methodologies, extensive experience in quality control and assurance for food manufacturing plants. SQF and PCQI are required. HPLC and lab management experience is highly desired.
