Mechanical Engineer

Main Job Functions:

• With minimal supervision, provide technical capability and innovative design concepts for machine function and performance.
• Work with and support other engineering functions to enable a successful systemic design integration.
• This position reports to the Director of Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Engineer and design the mechanical aspects of automation equipment.
• Provide project leadership and coordinate the electrical/pneumatic/mechanical design for specified projects.
• Support the Production and Service departments in resolving technical issues.
• Represent the Company at technical exhibits, trade shows and customer meetings.
• Share pertinent design information with mechanical designers and engineers to validate design.
• Adhere to and follow Company policies and safety regulations. Practice and encourage safe work practices.
• Adhere to and implement the ISO QMS and participate in a Process of Ongoing Improvement.
• Occasional travel required to assist in customer equipment installation or technical service work.
• Assist other employees in the Company.
• Demonstrate initiative and leadership within the broad guidelines of the overall mission of the Engineering Department.

Qualifications:

• Degree in mechanical engineering; advanced degree preferred
• Industry Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years mechanical engineering work experience in automation/ machine building
  • Work experience in the packaging and pharma industry preferred
  • Work experience with powder filling preferred
• Minimum 3 years of SolidWorks design experience
• Experience with and design integration of electro-mechanical and pneumatic devices
• Experience in HVAC design or integration is preferred
• Experience in working with PLC programmed systems
• Technical and general leadership skills required
