Summary of Position

 As a Mechanical Designer you will join our team and assist with the design and development of our Industrial machines & auxiliary equipment. This equipment includes but is not limited to: Hardware, Gears, Shafts, & Couplers Etc.

This position interfaces directly with other engineering personnel, shop staff, and non-engineering department personnel and management.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical calculations to size and analyze mechanical systems.
  • The scope of these calculations includes Load, stress calculations for mechanical members and systems
  • Parts strength calculations
  • Preparation & creation of 3D models, 2D drawings, and internal order documentation for equipment release to our shop.
  • Preparation & creation of 3D models and drawings.
  • Work closely with shop staff to optimize the design of parts and equipment for manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot, revise, and optimize existing parts and assemblies for continued improvements to products and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to internal customers.

 

  *Required Education:

 * Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or Equivalent experience

  *Required Skills: *

* At least 2+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering design

* Proficient in Solidworks or other 3D software

 * Good knowledge in MS-office applications (Excel, Word, Access)

 Desired skills:

* Ability to use Finite Element Analysis,

* Ability to read Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).

* Familiarity with industrial equipment:

 * Familiarity with manufacturing processes, hands on experience is especially valuable.

* Knowledge of the basic operating principles of industrial equipment..

 * Knowledge of relevant codes; ASME etc.
