Purpose of the position

The Manager of Quality Supply Chain is responsible for analyzing, developing, and deploying Supply Chain (Supplier to Customer) processes, policies, standards, and systems for the company to operate within.  This role will be leading continuous improvement initiatives as it relates to operational excellence and successful deployment of quality and operational strategies and initiatives. This role will demonstrate a high level of performance and collaborate cross-functionally to drive system value through the identification and resolution of complex Supply Chain process issues, including oversight of rework, and obsolete ingredients. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing and deploying the company’s Internal Documentation Control and Auditing Programs, as well as the Supply Quality Program, Quality & Food Safety Manual, and Specification (Raw Material and Finished Product) processes. Must be a critical thinker, with strong decision-making skills, and have a “can do” drive required to succeed in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities & duties

▌Responsibility 1 – Develop, Deploy & Maintain a Management System Program to include documenting processes, document control methodologies, Management Review, and Internal Auditing.  This includes the maintenance of the company Quality and Food Safety Manual.

▌Responsibility 2 – Coordinate the implementation, distribution, continuous revisions, and rationalization of all Management Systems related documents such as policies, programs, work instructions, work aids quality records and procedures.

▌Responsibility 3 – Develop, Deploy & Maintain a Supply Quality Program (processes and procedures) for the company.  This includes collaborating with Food Technology and Procurement in the management of the company’s raw material specifications, Quality Approval of Suppliers, Supply Quality Scorecards, as well as Raw Material Receiving requirements and testing.

▌Responsibility 4 – Work collaboratively with Operations, Procurement and Sales on processes associated with the Material Review Boards, Obsolete Ingredients and Product.  Deploying processes to minimize and eliminate related cost.

▌Responsibility 5 – Create and implement short- and long-term strategies that will deliver measurable change and results utilizing Lean Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools, including LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Cost Improvement Projects (CIPs) and other tools as (DMAIC, Rapid Improvement Events, etc.).

▌Responsibility 6 – Performs quantitative analysis of key processes to identify opportunities for process improvement, process optimization, process redesign, and waste reduction and lead from identification to execution.

Work experience & skills

5 – 10 years progressive experience in Supply Chain Management with sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures

3 – 5 work experience within a manufacturing (preferably food) environment.

Management Systems, Project Management and/or other Operational Excellence processes.

Experience with Document Management tools such as ETQ.

Supply Quality Program exposure and/or experience.

1 – 2 years of Supply Quality Management experience

Exposure to or experience with the practical application and fundamentals of Continuous Improvement (CI) tools, Willingness to obtain Green Belt certification or higher.

Green Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt or Brown Belt identification as a Green Belt who has passed the Black Belt exam with forthcoming Six Sigma project.

Internal Audit Certification, with 1 – 3 years Auditing experience

 

Understand and have experience in packaging, production, maintenance, and raw material processes.

Experienced in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.

Ability to work as a leader and in collaboration with other cross functional teams and individuals. 

 

Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.
