Successful manufacturer is seeking an EHS Specialist to work in their fast-paced, mass production manufacturing organization.  The EHS Specialist will report to the HR Manager and will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Promote and foster a safety-oriented culture
  • Identify, develop, coordinate and perform safety training initiatives 
  • Develop and improve machine guarding systems 
  • Maintain SDS (safety data sheets) and potentially automate the system in the future 
  • Perform and complete accident investigations
  • Re-evaluate and improve EHS processes 
  • Report, review and improve department metrics and KPIs 
  • Ensure that needed first aid and PPE supplies are on hand and replenished in a timely manner 
  • Attend area and state safety council meetings 
  • Perform job safety analysis 
  • Complete safety documentation and maintain compliance 
  • Assist the HR team in completing BWC tasks 
  • Show a presence on the manufacturing floor to drive the company’s safety initiatives and improve the safety culture of the plant  
  • Cover EHS support on multiple shifts as needed, including working split shifts as needed to promote the company’s safety initiatives and perform required training  
  • Document and track completed training for the staff 
  • Oversee the site’s recycling program 
  • Complete water and air permit requirements 
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned
 
This is a hands-on position that requires candidates to complete frontline EHS tasks.  Candidates must be able to foster a safety culture, have excellent customer service skills and be able to create “buy in” on the manufacturing floor.  This position requires candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of their day.  The company offers competitive medical benefits (including dental and vision), gain sharing, life insurance, 401K, short term disability and long term disability, paid holidays and vacation. 

REQUIREMENTS for the EHS Specialist:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in a related EHS field is desired, but not required 
2. At least three years of experience in a similar manufacturing EHS position

3. Strong safety-focused background 
4. General knowledge of environmental processes
5. Machine guarding experience 
6. Working knowledge ergonomics 
7. PPE management 
8. Experience presenting safety training 
9. Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint 

Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. CSP certification 

2. Strong environmental experience 
3. ISO 14001 experience 
4. First responder or EMT certifications 
5. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training
