Our client, a Global leader in the manufacture of aerospace products is seeking for a  Director of Information Systems. The company is a worldwide supplier to aircraft manufacturers and their subcontractors and has served the aircraft industry for decades. In this role, you will participate in the company’s strategic business planning process, applying an up-to-date knowledge of systems and technology to enhance the company’s competitive position.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Exercise and promote safety
  • Develop and execute a MIS Strategic Plan which is consistent with the Corporate Strategic Plan
  • Manage the MIS staff in the ongoing information systems operations and day-to-day operations
  • Evaluate the structure and size of the MIS Department and make modifications as needed
  • Plan and manage all information systems resources, including hardware, software, and networking; primary activities will include systems administration of NT and NetWare servers, leading in the design of and overseeing applications development, managing user support (hardware and software), and managing client services (EDI, e-mail, web site enhancements)
  • Manage, lead, and facilitate the selection, design, implementation, and tuning of security tools
  • Manage and oversee maintenance/implementation of security policies, internal penetration/vulnerability testing
  • Plan and execute the migration of information systems to corporate headquarters in Canton; includes effective management of both technical and human resource issues
  • Plan strategically for future growth needs, including expansion to new locations in the future
  • Manage the liaison between MIS and other functions of the company
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with internal and external business partners, including outside vendors who provide hardware and software support
  • Engage with the field sales team and customers to develop and manage automated information links between company and its customers
  • Report to the CFO and interface regularly with the President and CEO as well as their direct reports
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical topics and issues into layman’s language
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels of the organization; a self-starter who is comfortable working in a self-directed environment, once given broad strategic direction; someone who welcomes empowerment and empowers others; a hands-on and high energy leader who is comfortable in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment; an individual who placed a high value on honesty and ethics
  • Leadership: ability to use initiative and judgment when making decisions
  • Systems Proficiency: Program in Visual Basic and SQL Server, NT Networking administration, Microsoft Exchange Server, networking topologies and hardware; familiarity with Solomon accounting software
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to think strategically while staying focused on bottom line results; ability to operate effectively both tactically and strategically
  • Physical Abilities: Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands; must be able to lift 50 pounds at any time during his/her shift; the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Qualifications
  • BS Business, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Science
  • At least 5 years of information systems management experience, including exposure to a multi-site manufacturing environment; experience in security and applications development a must
  • Certifications Required: Aerial lift certification; Fall protection certification; Lock-out/Tag-out certification
Working Conditions: 
  • Schedule: 1st shift (some flexibility required for occasional nights and/or weekends)
