Client is seeking a Database Marketing Manager to work on strategic database marketing
initiatives for the firm. The position reports to the Director of Marketing and is an integral part of the
Marketing Department, assisting the team in all aspects of client’s database activities.
The Database Marketing Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the firm’s Client
Relationship Management (CRM) database and provides information regarding markets, clients,
competitors and campaign effectiveness to measure performance and support business development
efforts. The position requires business process experience combined with technical skills and
the ability to mine and analyze data to deliver concise, meaningful reports. Experience working with
CRM systems and report generators is a must. Experience with ContactEase, Constant Contact, and
InTapp Experience Management a plus.

The Database Marketing Manager is responsible for the overall administration of the firm’s Client

Essential Responsibilities:
Maintains the firm’s lists of current contacts including clients, prospects, and referral sources.
Manages all CRM activities and CRM-related initiatives including overall data maintenance,
import/export of lists, ensuring data integrity.
Creates and maintains target market mailing lists for practice groups, attorneys, and other
internal affinity groups.
Coordinates all firm CRM “users” and the actual usage of CRM data; also manages all related
questions and issues from attorneys and staff.
Trains laterals and administrators on maintaining contacts.
Manages all outgoing communications (including client alerts, news releases, invitations, firm
announcements, and other correspondence as directed) to clients, prospects, and referral
sources using the firm’s email marketing system.
Ensures CRM database is updated after each email communication to incorporate information
from hard bounces, unsubscribe requests, and information gleaned from Out of Office
notifications.
Collaborates with the Marketing team with the selection, implementation, training, and ongoing
utilization of a new client experience database.
Utilizes subscriptions to business publications in select markets and commercial insight
databases to monitor news and trends for business development and market visibility
opportunities; and
o Performs research and compiles data on prospects and clients as needed per attorney
requests and to contribute to pitches, RFPs, and proposals;
o Conducts competitive intelligence and shares insights.
Collaborates with IT, Accounting, and Conflicts Departments to integrate and share data.
Works closely with IT Department on CRM reference and training materials as needed.
Works closely with CRM service provider(s) to ensure database integrity and process
improvements.
Monitors the marketing technology industry for developing trends, including new tools and new
service providers which may allow the Marketing team to work more efficiently and effectively.
Cross trains on the firm’s Content Management System (CMS) to assist with posting new
content and edits to existing content for the firm’s public facing website, Ulmer.com.
Cross trains on the firm’s intranet, to assist with posting new content and making edits to
existing content.
Attends offsite training to remain knowledgeable about trends and best practices related to
CRM.
Data Management Responsibilities:
Monitors and maintains data on key firm contacts, working with Manager on relationship
management.
Monitors marketing data – trends, experience, clients.
Works closely with third party vendor to generate bounce-back and opt-out reports to maintain
data integrity.
Provides assistance with pitches, proposals, and firm events based on CRM experience and
overall data.
Assists with Continuing Legal Education reporting by uploading attendance lists to state portals,
monitoring on-demand viewers, and sending Certificates of Completion.
Creates predictive models, reports, dashboards and interactive data experiences to help
attorneys make more informed decisions.
Develops solutions to information needs.
Offers consulting to Director and Managers to maximize:
o Marketing campaigns, initiatives
o Client communications including client alerts, news releases, invitations, firm
announcements, and other correspondence as directed.
o Event invitations (in person events, virtual webinars, and hybrid events) and results
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, technology/information systems, or related field required.
Minimum of five years of related experience required.
Experience and Expectations:
Experience with CRM software required.
Experience with Email marketing software required.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage deadlines.
Superior attention to detail.
Excellent computer skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of content management systems.
Team player with excellent organizational skills.
