Position Summary:
This position is responsible for but not limited to monitoring plant controls systems, adjusting and creating programs that will safely improve and maintain efficiency of production. Must also be able to document and communicate any changes, problems, or concerns to other team members of maintenance to ease troubleshooting and repair. Lead the controls technicians on daily tasks and duties along with projects and production needs. Work alongside the other controls engineer to cover all production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Modify and optimize existing systems, define, and design interfaces
· Write and prepare technical documentation
· Program and analyze Siemens S7, TIA Portal, Allen Bradley(Rockwell), as well as ABB robot technique
· Work with SCADA system in both machining and foundry plants
· Program and troubleshoot VFD’s
· Maintain plants fiber optic loop and network racks for the controls networks
· Program visualizations and integrate optical systems for monitoring existing processes
· Carry out unerring error analysis on the mentioned controls and eliminate errors/failures
· Carry out system diagnosis, modifications, and corrections
· Inform, instruct, train and advise employees with regard to efficiency and optimum utilization of the systems during operation
· Implementation of the operational requirements (analysis, interfaces to external systems) in consideration of linked functions and existing dependences to other program systems or in case of integration into an overall system
· Adjust existing hardware systems according to technical specifications or production request meeting requirements and production aspects
· Inspect and amend specification sheets
· Select possible suppliers for reconstructions and facility optimizations, gather and inspect quotations
· Prepare descriptions, estimate and calculate costs
· Inspect interfaces, pursue performances and due dates
· Determine project status and monitor process of project, decide remedies in case of deviations
· Assure compliance with economic targets and technical specifications
· Analyze disturbances and determine corrective actions
· Assure 100% compliance with safety regulations within the department
· All other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
· Associates Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Science required
· 4-7 years of experience working with PLC’s
· 4-7 years of PLC experience and utilizing PLC systems to troubleshoot equipment
· Experience with S.C.A.D.A. systems is preferred
Additional Skills:
· Ability to work in team based environment
· Familiarity with configuration, programming, and implementation of motion controllers
· Ability to use or willingness to be trained using forklifts, cranes, electric pallet jacks, etc.
· Very high level of attention to detail
· Ability to use computer and knowledge of software, MS Office, etc.
· Ability to transfer knowledge and train other team members
· Ability to use many different troubleshooting tools
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. continually
· Ability to work in a hot environment
· Ability to continuously climb stairs
· Ability to walk and/or stand constantly throughout shift
· Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, etc.
· Ability to constantly do repetitive motions throughout shift
