Chemical Project Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL area

 

Description:

This person will be working at a medium sized specialty chemical plant located south of Chicago on the Illinois/Indiana border. This facility manufactures over 70 million lbs. of specialty chemicals annually and has over 50 employees on site. This role will be 70% project focused, 30% process focused – you will be leading multiple expansion & upgrade projects ranging from $10k to $2M working alongside the other departments, vendors, & contractors. Your goal will be to improve capacity, reliability, and overall site performance (may assist in troubleshooting existing equipment and processes). Equipment such as reactors & distillation columns are used as part of the processes, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S. Chemical Engineering required
  • 3+ years of project engineering experience out of a chemicals, oil & gas, pharma, or related background
  • Ideally design through installation, experience managing projects of at least $50k 
  • Batch & continuous operations or Six Sigma training experience is a plus
  • Preferably out of a PSM regulated plant
